ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
AQUACACTEEN
AquaCacteen is an ultra-refined elixir derived from organic cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica). This product inhibits the release of stress markers from sensory nerve cells in the skin and soothes irritated skin. It also has excellent moisturizing properties due to its high content of water-binding compounds.
The soothing effect of AquaCacteen™ was evaluated on men's skin after shaving.
At the beginning of the study, skin irritation was induced by repeated shaves using a commercial razor and shaving foam on the inside of the forearms of 20 men aged between 35 and 65 years.
Immediately after shaving, the skin test areas were treated with 2% AquaCacteen™ emulsion or the corresponding placebo.
Skin redness was then assessed at different times using a chromometer.
The results showed that 1 hour after shaving, redness in the AquaCacteen™-treated areas was significantly reduced compared to placebo.
CM GLUCAN H
It is a derivative of ß-glucan, a natural polysaccharide with immune-boosting properties. Yeast-derived ß-glucan has been shown to have the strongest immune-boosting ability. Yeast ß-glucan can stimulate our immune system by increasing the activity of macrophages and other immunocompetent cells. It may also accelerate tissue repair.
In the following clinical study the skin was stimulated with Capsaicin, a powerful irritant from chili peppers. The release of the very powerful CGRP was then tested. CGRP is part of a process that leads to inflammation and itching of the skin.
Lidocaine, a local anesthetic that inhibits the release of CGRP, was compared with Sodium Carboxymethyl Beta-Glucan and the results showed that Sodium Carboxymethyl Beta-Glucan inhibited the release of CGRP more than lidocaine.
